The weather was unstable, it has been raining for few days before the photo session. We worried because the photo session have already postponed once. The day turned out very lovely with scattered clouds to cool off the burning sun. The woods also covered up the path, so it was an enjoyable walk. It took us 20 minutes to get to the first location to start the photo shoot. The place was so green, the air was fresh. Plenty of good lights for the photo session. Hope Angela and Eric enjoyed the session and I can’t wait for their wedding day.
Angela + Eric engagement session at Shing Mun Country Park
Karen + Jacky colorful engagement session at Shek O

I’ve known Karen and Jacky for quite some time and we have built a trust between us. They booked me for an e-session and we enjoyed it every much. The sunny, hot and humid weather didn’t stop us walking all the way out to the rocky seashore, back through the Shek O village and to the beach to finish off with some fun.
Jeraci + Samuel Love in Bali

These are plain and simple. Brought them out early in the morning just before the hard light hits. We started at the Chapel with the sun shine from the back of the Chapel which creates the high key tone. Then walked through the garden and took some more outdoor shots with lots of green!
To be honest, I’m not a good writer nor a good speakers. But I’ll love to share my thoughts and experience with anyone who cares about wedding photographs. Anyone including couples who are getting married or photographers who are serious about wedding photography.

Jess + Jake 100% humidity + 100% love in Central
It was a really humid day in Hong Kong. We know spring is here when it is 99% humidity and I don’t think 100% humidity makes any difference. It was hot, sticky and sweaty. To be honest I hate it so much because I’m a sweaty person and especially I need to go out for photo shoot. But hey I love what I do, and I don’t care what kind of weather it is. As long I have a camera on my hand, I will work hard to find good photos.
With this kind of weather, the photo session made Jess and Jake a bit exhausted. We had to walk around the Soho area in Central for some photo spots. The area is up and down hills, so as soon as we started walking up hills, we were sweating already. Nevertheless, we went to a few locations in Soho. Played with the swings, walk through some old streets and then took a rest at a famous food stall.
This e-session was planned by Jess as a surprise for Jake. Jake came from Perth to Hong Kong for holiday and Jess wanted to get Jake a birthday present. At the end Jess couldn’t keep the secret as Jake found out about me. It was a really a lovely idea and I hope they enjoyed the moment with the e-session.

Mariko + Brad in Perth streets and roof top.
Perth still have plenty of sunshine and even burning hot if you stays too long without shades. But I love it so much, because the weather is perfect to go out for some photo shoot. This trip back to Perth gave me a chance to work with my friend Chris to bring this lovely couple out for a photo shoot. The couple got married on the day I arrived and Chris was on the job for their wedding photos. So this session was a post-wedding photos that Chris invited them and here we have the results!
Thanks so much for Mariko and Brad. Bless you all.

Street photo – Temple street Hong Kong
It’s often that when I’m not shooting weddings, my camera will just sits on my couch sun bathing. I love photograph landscape, but only when the weather is nice which only happens 20 days a year. Obviously, my camera is not sun bathing most of the time. So in 2010, I told myself to bring my camera out more often to just do some street photo shoot. Which you might think it’s easy, but Hong Kong is difficult sometimes. People don’t like cameras pointing at them, unless you are a tourist and of course I don’t look like one. Anyway, I went out with my buddy for some street photos at Temple street. It is a well known night market tourist attraction. You can find cheap clothes, accessories, electronics, many fake items and also tarot. Have a look at this place!

The old tea house on the right, still remains some Hong Kong history

Above is at the fruit market. It is a place where stocks of fruit get collected and send out to wet markets.
Joey Make-up opening!
So with the previous post on the Bridal Make-up photos. Here we have the opening of Joey’s Make-up studio. As most of you might know about the pricey rent in Hong Kong. Most of the photographers, make-up artist, wedding gown vendors can’t afford to hire big spaces. So what we have in Hong Kong are these small size office/studio to suit our needs. They are good enough for make-up trial or meeting with clients. The importance is the location right at Tsim Sha Tsui, which is one of the well gathered area with many wedding gown vendors, make-up artists and photographers nearby. So it’s a very convenient location for couples to shop for their wedding.
With Joey’s setup, she puts a lot of DIY to decorate her studio. Check them out.

The Bling Bling card holder and photo album!

Joey Make-up clock and the digital photo frame to show off her works. It also plays music. Nice!

Oh look at those pretty photos on the wall

Joey spent her time DIY some gifts for her friends to take away. Lovely stuff.
Joey Bridal Make-up photos
Did a fun job for a Make-up artist Joey Lam. She did like 10 or 12 make-up and hair styling changes in 5 hours. The models were all nice and fun to work with. I setup a simple lighting with 3 strobes: One at top left, one at middle right and one point to the back to lit the background. Photos retouched by Danny Chan, who’s a famous designer in Hong Kong. All dresses are from Vianei Wedding. Joey just started her own make-up shop. More photos on that soon.
